Still Standing: Gloucester’s Forgotten Picturehouse is a project about artist-led spaces, centred on the story of The Picturedrome in Barton, Gloucester. The building’s recent history as a grassroots creative venue is explored, reflecting on the passion, curiosity, and resilience required to inject energy into disused spaces. The project interviews residents and active contributors, offering insight into both personal journeys and the wider cultural landscape of Gloucester. A photographic series has been produced depicting the interviewees and the derelict Picturedrome building. The photos and interviews were exhibited in The Shirt Factory, Gloucester, from April 20-26, 2026.
This project was made possible by Voices Gloucester and supported by The Shirt Factory.
